Christianity

Class,

You should be making some decent progress through your chapter on Christianity in World's Religions. I'd like you to finish this chapter this week. Next week, we will begin reading Thomas Merton's Seven Storey Mountain. That book will take us about six weeks to read, so you will want to find some time to work this into your schedule. We will have class discussions each week about it.

Now, Christianity is wide and diverse in its interpretations--maybe more so than any of the other religions we've studied. I expect you may have some questions here. Now, your parents and your pastors or priests will give you the best information as it pertains to you spiritually. We will do our best to answer your questions in a scholarly way, giving you the information on what makes up these different denominations and how they might differ from mainstream Christianity as many of you understand it.

Keep the questions coming! I'm going to keep working on our little assessments. :)

Also, this week, you should have the two religions you plan to study in mind. Let us know in class.
You were also given some research topics for the week, including Puritans and Pilgrims, Roger Williams, and Anne Hutchinson. I'll likely pull your quiz questions from here. As we progress through World History, you will see these individuals not only shook up Protestantism, they left such an impact on our country as to influence our future Bill of Rights and country.
